Well we raised raise 1600, which will be split between two projects. Our new regional childrens hospice. The Bluebell Wood Children's hospice and an international project supporting underprivileged children in the Tres Lagoas region of Brazil. Catherine is currently winding up her gap year in Brazil and has identified the project in Tres Lagoas region as a worthwhile and effective use of funding. The Bluebell Wood Hospice will provide much needed support for terminally ill children and their families. Rotary Clubs in the UK will be support Childrens Hospices as part of their program for 2003-04.

Working with the Rotary Club of Dronfield, Derbyshire of which I am a member we can use match funding for up to 50% of the funds we raise under the international section of our challenge. In reality this means that for every 1000 we raise that Rotary Foundation will match it with 500. Now that really is making money work.

Our previous project completed on June 27th 2003 has seen the installation of a spectrophotometer and Ultra Sound Scanner in a neo-natal hospital in San Juan, an extremely socially deprived town in Argentina. The new equipment will enable the hospital to identify difficulties with the unborn child much earlier than at present and before the lives of child and mother are at risk. The value of this project alone was over 8,500.
